Water production rises by 5.7 per cent

MUSCAT: Water production of the Sultanate at the end of September 2018 reached 351.3 million cubic metres, an increase of 5.7 per cent from the end of September 2017, when it was 332.3 million cubic metres, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). In the Governorate of Muscat, the water production grew by 4.9 per cent to reach 155.9 million cubic metres, compared to 148.7 million cubic metres at the end of September 2017. Water production also rose in the Governorate of Dhofar by 7.6 per cent until the end of September 2018 to reach 46.8 million cubic metres compared to last year, when the production was 43.52 million cubic metres. The total water production of other governorates at the end of September 2018 was 148.5 million cubic metres, a rise of 6 per cent from the end of September 2017, when the production reached 140.1 million cubic metres.
