Wadi Sireen bridge in Amerat opens for traffic

Muscat: The Muscat Municipality has announced the opening of the Wadi Sireen bridge in Amerat for traffic following the completion of the maintenance work. The bridge was partially affected during the unpredictable climatic conditions experienced by the Sultanate in the past few years.


The maintenance works included repairing, strengthening of the foundations of the bridge after cavities filled with water were discovered under the soil.


Engineer Tayeb bin Mahed Al Harthy, Director of the Technical Studies Department, said the cavities were injected with a specially designed and tested concrete and the foundations were supported with the rock layer at the bottom. A concrete wall was constructed through a system of concrete piles about 10 meters deep to prevent soil erosion.


The final stages of maintenance work is continuing, such as painting, taking into account that the the flow is traffic is not affected.
