Vocational skills in tech education stressed

MUSCAT: The 28th meeting of the GCC Skills Authority began at the Ministry of Manpower on Monday. Dr Muna bint Salim al Jardaniyah, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training, stressed the importance of the vocational skills in developing the technical education and vocational training and rising the level of skills to meet the needs of the labour market according to the latest international standards and to achieve the sustainable development.


The 3-day meeting, which is being hosted by the Ministry of Manpower, will discuss several topics such as the start date of the GCC Skills Competition, due to be held in the State of Kuwait and the 44th World Skills Competition 2017, due to be held in Abu Dhabi, besides discussing the GCC unified exhibition, which will be organised on the sidelines of the 44th World Skills Competition. It will also discuss the suggestion of setting up a club for the competitors and will review the introductory guide of the GCC Skills Authority. — ONA
