Victories for Design Group, Challengers and Taurus

MUSCAT: Tasleem Rasheed Khan took three vital wickets to help Design Group Engineering Consultants to an exciting 11-run win against Hussain Fadhil and Partners (HFP) in a G Division match at Muscat Municipality ground 4.


Design Group won the toss and batted first, scoring 173 for 3 in 20 overs. Dixon Mariyadasan (46), Franklin Johnny (34) and Shabbir Ahmed (28 not out) were the main scorers. Mithun Nair took two wickets for HFP.


Looking goof at 86 for 2, HFP slumped to 108 for 7 in the space of 25 deliveries. Failing to recover from the middle order collapse, HFP could manage only 162 for 8 before its quota of overs ended. Mithun Nair (31) and Nikhil Thekkan (30) were the only notable scorers. Apart from Tasleem’s three wickets, Shabbir Ahmed bagged two.


Brief scores: Design Group 173 for 3 in 20 overs (Dixon Mariyadasan 46 – 10x4, Franklin Johnny 34 – 3x4, Shabbir Ahmed 28 not out – 4x4. Mithun Nair 2-18) beat HFP 162 for 8 in 20 overs (Mithun Nair 31 – 2x4, 1x6. Tasleem Rasheed Khan 3-39, Shabbir Ahmed 2-40) by 11 runs.


Challengers ease past Aster


An 82-run unbroken partnership for the third wicket between Praveen Kumar (62) and Dipu Ramachandran (46) steered FHD Crazy Challengers to an 8-wicket victory against Aster Hospital in an H Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 3 on Friday.


Asked to bat first, Aster struggled for momentum and were bowled out for 133 in the 18th over. Vikram Vishwas (35) and Usman Bajwa (31) were the only notable scorers. Gopakumar Gopal bowled well to claim four wickets, getting good support from Sajith Chenganassery who bagged three.


Challengers raced to the target in the 18th over, scoring 134 for 2.


Brief scores: Aster Hospital 133 all out in 17.5 overs (Vikram Vishwas 35 – 3x4, Usman Bajwa 31 – 6x4. Gopakumar Gopal 4-23, Sajith Chenganassery 3-19) lost to FHD Crazy Challengers 134 for 2 in 17.4 overs (Praveen Kumar 62 – 7x4, Dipu Ramachandran (46 not out – 3x4, 1x6) by 8 wickets.


Tauras too good for Al Siraj


Taurus XI thrashed Al Siraj Holdings by 138 runs, thanks to two superb knocks by Adhar Rajubhai Desai (87 off 53) and Chatrapal Sisodia (65 0ff 35) who were involved in a crucial 113-run second wicket partnership, in an I Division match at OAC III ground.


Put in to bat first, Taurus piled up 215 for 6 before its bowlers ran through Al Siraj batting, skittling it out for a paltry 77. Bhimji Thanki took three wickets while Gadhia Nimesh and Harilal Thanki bagged two each.


Brief scores: Taurus XI 215 for 6 in 20 overs (Adhar Rajubhai Desai 87 – 10x4, hatrapal Sisodia 65 - 9x4. Hariharan Algirisamy 2-27) defeated Al Siraj 77 all out in 14.1 overs (Bhimji Thanki 3-12, Gadhia Nimesh 2-13, Harilal Thanki 2-31) by 138 runs.
