MUSCAT, JULY 3 -

In a show of support for the educational sector, a cooperation agreement between Vale Oman Pelletizing Company and the International Maritime College Oman (IMCO) was signed at IMCO premises. The agreement was signed by Jamil Sebe, Vale Oman CEO and Dr Hilal al Hadrami, the Dean of IMCO with a presence of Vale’s management and IMCO’s faculty members. This agreement translates Vale’s social responsibility through contributing in transforming the local youth life and its efforts allocated to build partnerships in the four pillars of Business Sustainability Approach including; Local Economy Development (Supply Chain and ICV), Environmental Friendly Operations, People Development and Corporate Social Responsibility.

The agreement was adopted to link IMCO’s students with Vale’s operations in order to facilitate the industrial visits and students’ internships for a period mutually agreed upon, collaborate on joint Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects which include educating youth through various entrepreneurship and leadership workshops, conduct technical and soft skills training, participate in delivering guest lectures for students and staff that will provide them an industrial experience and provide help in developing proposals and agreements for possible research and consultancy projects.

“We at Vale strive to build mutual relations with our main stakeholders, which reflects our mission of transforming natural resources into prosperity and sustainable development.

Therefore, we believe this agreement with IMCO as a leading educational institution in Oman will contribute to the development of education’s quality through learning by doing and having the opportunity to embrace the college’s students for training and internship opportunities whenever there is a possibility and demand. As well as engaging the academics in our industry for scientific researches as part of our continual improvements and industry innovation, in addition to our social initiatives in educational sector and volunteering drives”, said Jamil Sebe, Vale Oman CEO.
