Typhoon fighter aircraft, MK166 trainer jets ready for launch

MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidy, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, and his delegation left on Thursday for the United Kingdom (UK) to preside over launching the first group of Typhoon aircraft fighters and Hawk MK166 training aircraft.


The aircraft that will be launched are part of a series of aircraft that will be delivered as per preset timetable for this project.


The procurement of these aircraft comes within the modernization and updating plans, witnessed by the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) under the wise care and interest of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to the armed forces in a bid to enhance their ability and role in protecting the national and preserving the achievements made during the Blessed Renaissance.


Sayyid Badr is accompanied during the visit by Air Vice Marshal Matar bin Ali al Obaidani, RAFO Commander and senior Sultan Armed Forces (SAF) officers.


The Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs was seen off by Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and senior SAF officers. — ONA
