Ministry statement on Salalah accident that killed tourists

Salalah: The Ministry of Tourism (MOT) has issued a statement on the road accident that took place near Haffa market in Salalah on Thursday.


Two British women died while one person sustained serious injuries in the accident.


MOT expressed its deepest condolences to families of two women while wished a speedy recovery of the injured person and a safe return to his home country.


The ministry said it is liaising with the relevant authorities to extend all essential help when need.


According to ROP, the accident resulted in the death of the two women and the injury of the man with a moderate injury.


Preliminary information indicated that the cause of the accident was the driver's deviation from the track. He did not a driving license and the legal procedures have been followed in the case.


“I came to know about the accident after noticing long queue of vehicles on roads near Haffa Souk. Later I came to know that two foreign tourists have been killed in an accident and while the third person is admitted to hospital critically,” said a shopkeeper at Haffa Souk.
