Two colleges merged to form new university

MUSCAT, May 13 - The Ministry of Higher Education has issued a decision establishing National University for Science and Technology by merging Caledonian College of Engineering and Oman Medical College. The new university will be a legal entity, based in Muscat, and will comprise the College of Engineering, College of Medicine and Health Sciences and College of Pharmacy. Decision No 91/2018 of the ministry states that the university will be represented at the Ministry of Higher Education, the official entities and its relations with others, by its chancellor.


As per the decision, the founders will be given a period of six months, extendable to another six months, from the date of enforcement of the decision to complete the procedures required to start the university following the approval of the Minister of Higher Education. The decision to start the university will be issued by the Minister of Higher Education, including the academic programmes after meeting all academic requirements as well as human and material constituents requisite for the implementation of academic programmes.
