Truck with frozen poultry raided for consumer law violations

Muscat: The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in the Al Dhahirah Governorate recently seized over 1.5 tonnes of frozen poultry from a truck before it was distributed to two commercial centers in the region.


The officials the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACPA) during the course of their inspections found out that a truck was being loaded with over three tonnes of frozen poultry and food products during the day in an unscientific way when temperatures were up to 40 degrees Celsius.


The truck was tracked and monitored for hours and it turned out to be leading to two commercial centers in the governorate.


The truck was seized following its arrival at one of its destination in cooperation with the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Royal Oman Police.


They were booked for the violations of the Article 7 of the Consumer Protection Law, which states that 'it is prohibited to trade and advertise any spoiled or corrupt  goods.
