TRC reviews National Innovation Strategy

MUSCAT: A meeting held on Monday at the Ministry of Manpower and The Research Council (TRC), on the National Innovation Strategy discussed means to activate the mechanisms to implement the efficiency of the labor market, technical education and vocational training. Dr Hilal bin Ali al Hinai, Secretary General of TRC, in his speech he pointed out that states develop innovation systems and framework that provide platforms for research, development and marketing. He highlighted the importance of effective integration among innovation related factors.


Dr Sharifa bint Hamoud al Harthiyah, Director of the National Innovation Strategy, made a presentation on the national innovation strategy which she said that it aims at creating a national system for innovation with standard vision and clear policy to achieve specific aims and preset priorities through carefully studies and balanced plans.


The Strategy seeks to enhance the innovation mediums through a number of initiatives that ensures sustainability. These initiatives include developing the national policies and legislations, establishing innovation incubators and research and development centers, transfer of technology, enhancing international communication, promoting innovation and creativity among Omani entrepreneurs, doubling the number of business and innovation incubators in universities and colleges and developing school curricula in a way that promotes science, mathematics and reading skills. — ONA
