Salalah, Nov 21 - The National Transport Survey (NTS) began in Dhofar with the lining up of logistics and survey teams in association with the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Royal Oman Police (ROP). The survey is the brainchild of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP), which has set up a participatory framework to address development issues in the wake of current economic situation emerging out of prevailing oil prices.

The survey teams conducted data collection exercise on Salalah-Mirbat Road on Monday and asked participants to give the right inputs, which will help in describing the existing conditions and understanding transport system in the governorate. “A part of the National Transport Survey, inputs will help in analysing predictive transport models in order to forecast the future transport conditions and predict the effects of system changes,” said a team member involved in the survey.
