MUSCAT, MAY 15 -

Windorex + Glass & Aluminium Oman 2017, the Sultanate’s definitive trade expo on the facades and building envelopes’ sector, opened at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center (OCEC) yesterday, May 15, paving the way for three days of business networking, B2B deliberations and commercial interactions centring on one of the fastest growing segments of the construction industry.

Shaikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, formally inaugurated the trade fair in the presence of a number of dignitaries representing various government, public and private sector organisations that have a shared interest in the development of this promising sector.

Organised by leading Omani event management firm Global Exhibitions and Conferences LLC (GEC), the annual event is now in its second year having made an immensely positive mark on the fenestrations and facades industry when the maiden edition was held a year ago.

This time around, showcasing their products, technologies and services are more than 100 leading brands drawn from over 20 countries. The spread of merchandise includes all kinds of doors, windows, glass and aluminium fenestrations and facades, sun protection systems, energy conservation systems and technologies, and other kinds of novel so-called ‘building envelopes’ that contribute to enhanced privacy, security and energy savings.

In a reflection of the event’s promising economic potential, a number of local, regional and international trade organisations have extended their enthusiastic backing for the event. Topping the list is Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI), which has highlighted the trade fair’s potential to open up a wealth of business opportunities for small and medium Omani enterprises.
