MUSCAT: Salman Khan’s all-round heroics were instrumental in TR Engineering scoring a 3-wicket win over Wasco Orange in a closely-fought G Division clash at Muscat Municipality ground 4 on Friday.


Batting first, Wasco posted a fighting 168 for 8 on the board in 20 overs. Jeason Jacob led the way with a fluent 61 off 43 while Sebastian Sajeev chipped in with 30 off 28. Amol Dhotre bowled well to take 3 wickets for 20 runs while Salman Khan bagged 2 for 24.


TR Engineering then rode on Salman’s brilliant half-century (53 off 35) to achieve the target in 19.4 overs, scoring 172 for 7. Sharif Al Balushi made 23 off 20. Deepesh Unniloru picked up 3 wickets for 25 runs.


Brief scores (G Division): Wasco Orange 168 for 8 in 20 overs (Jeason Jacob 61 – 8x4, 1x6, Sebastian Sajeev 30 – 2x4, 1x6. Amol Dhotre 3-20, Salman Khan 2-24) lost to TR Engineering 172 for 7 in 19.4 overs (Salman Khan 53 – 7x4, 1x6, Sharif Al Balushi 23 – 5x4. Deepesh Unnikoru 3-25) by 3 wickets.


Vandelande rout Nurson XI


Vandelande launched their H Division campaign on a winning note, scoring an impressive 8-wicket victory against Nurson XI at OAC 3 ground in Seeb.


Nurson XI managed a dismal 122 all out in 16.3 overs. Chatrapan Sisodia (28 off 24) and Mandar Deorukhkar (27 off 23) were the main scorers. Sohail Khan, Asim Mohammed and Mohammed Sultan bagged two wickets each.


Vandelande raced to the target in just 15 overs, scoring 123 for 2, Balamurugan Balsamy topscoring with unbeaten 43 off 28. Muhammed Sultan and Sohail Khan batted well too, contributing 38 and 25 respectively.

Aflag Group register


another massive win


Shah Abbas and Asgar Ali steered Aflag Group to another big win in the I Division, this time against a hapless Ghantoot Group which was handed a 115-run drubbing at OAC 3 ground.


Capitalising on the invitation to bat first, Aflag Group piled up 209 for 5 in 20 overs thanks to major contributions from Abbas (52 off 29), Naimatullah Khan (44 off 24) and Asgar Ali (38 off 26). Mohammed Imran and Jeyarajan took two wickets each.


Ghantoot Group failed to pose any challenge, folding up for a paltry 94 in the 18th over. Mafas Sainulabdeen scored 33 off 25 while Muhammed Rafeek made 25 off 19. Asgar Ali was brilliant with the ball, taking 3 for 26 while Arnold Lewis and Muhammed Yameen Bhatti bagged two wickets each.

Obaid shines again as


PSM rout ISAS


Schoolboy Obaidullah powered Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) to huge win over Indian School Al Seeb (ISAS) in A Junior League Under-19 match at Ministry of Sports (MOS) ground 2 in Amerat.


Obaidullah slammed 65 off 56 in PSM’s total of 192 all out in 40.4 overs. Adeel Abbas (47 off 58) and Muhammed Saqib (34 off 69) were the other leading scorers. Mohammed Sameer and Arul Kumar picked up three wickets each.


Teetering at 52 for 6, ISAS was soon dismissed for 88 in the 35th over. Mohammed Irfan topscored with 15 off 25. New ball bowlers Obaidullah and Adeel Abbas were very impressive, taking 3 for 22 and 2 for 13 respectively in their 10-over spells.


Brief scores (Junior League U-19): PSM 192 all out in 40.4 overs (Obaidullah 65 – 11x4, Adeel Abbas 47 – 5x4, Muhammed Saqib 34 – 1x4. Mohammed Sameer 3-24, Arul Kumar 3-39, Harsh Gulwani 2-35) trounced ISAS 88 all out in 34.3 overs (Mohammed Irfan 15 – 3x4. Obaidullah 3-22, Adeel Abbas 2-13) by 104 runs.


ISWK too good for MCCC U-19


In another lopsided Under-19 contest, Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) thrashed Muscat Cricket Coaching Center (MCCC) by a whopping 228 runs at the adjacent MOS 1 ground.


ISWK scored 257 for 5 in 50 overs, Neev Poojari leading the way with a solid 79 off 87. Joel Biju (52 off 66) and Jeel Tanna (42 not out off 30) were the other main scorers. Harith Raghuram and Sanjay Joshi took two wickets each.


MCCC U-19 side failed to show any resistance and got dismissed inside 16 overs for a meagre 29 which included 17 extras. Joshin Vincent bowled an impressive spell taking 5 for 14 while Yash Mehta took 3 wickets for only 5 runs. Amanpreet Singh claimed 2 for 2.
