By Business Reporter — MUSCAT: MAY 17 - The Ministry of Tourism is representing the Sultanate of Oman at the IMEX 2017 exhibition currently under way in Frankfurt, Germany. IMEX is one of the leading international exhibitions specialising in meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE). The ministry participates in this exhibition every year as it is considered an important platform that brings together experts in related fields and stakeholders in a scope of conferences, exhibitions, and events which are associated with the tourism sector, thereby contributing to the process of planning, networking with meetings’ and event organisers, and communicating with stakeholders from around the world.

Highlighting the Sultanate’s keenness to participate in this specialised international exhibition, Salim al Mamari, Director-General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism said, “Our participation in IMEX is part of the ministry’s ongoing effort to promote conferences and incentives tourism that is part of Oman’s national tourism strategy 2040.

As a nation that is full of promising opportunities — the Sultanate’s presence contribute towards promoting tourism products and services such as conferences and incentives.

Additionally, our participation also provides us with the opportunity to introduce and promote a number of tourism infrastructure projects like — integrated tourism projects and hotels’ facilities, including the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.”

Participating in the IMEX exhibition highlights Omani tourism’s varied features that distinguish the Sultanate from the rest of the world and promote it as an ideal destination for organising events, exhibitions, and conferences.

That’s not all —  the Sultanate is also promoted as a new tourism centre with specialised services and world-class facilities, that can attract leading international events of all kinds, particularly with the Oman Convention Bureau, which is participating in this exhibition to introduce its services and products.

The Bureau’s representatives will be presenting the facilities that are provided for enterprises that are supporting the incentive and conferences tourism industry.

Additionally they will also be highlighting the effort that is being made to promote Oman as an attractive centre for international events, as well as emphasising the importance of maintaining Oman’s status as a responsible and sustainable destination for tourism.
