Top Omani businessman passes away

Muscat, Jan 10 - Prominent Omani businessman Mohsin Haider Darwish passed away on Wednesday after a brief illness. A leading business group in Oman with varied interests, Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC (popularly known as MHD), was the brainchild of Darwish who transformed the family business of nearly 50 years into its present form. He was a member of the Board of Governors of Central Bank of Oman.


Khalil al Khonji, former chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), said he was a founding member of the chamber and an active member of several government institutions, including the Commission on Disputes, the Council for Consultations, the Council of Men and the Council of Governors and one of the founders of the University of Muscat. “Darwish was a great and professional businessman, whose passing away is a great loss to the GCC and Oman,” said Al Khonji. OCCI also condoled the demise of Darwish.
