By Kabeer Yousuf — MUSCAT: May 1 - Many parts of Dhofar and Al Wusta Governorates and adjacent areas will experience partly cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain, according to the Directorate General of  Meteorology and Air Navigation and National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center for the next 48 hours. Rest of the Sultanate will experience mainly clear skies with chance of developing convective clouds and isolated rain over Al Hajar mountains.

“The latest stellite images how clouds over mountains and adjoining areas during next 48 hours especially in the afternoon and chances of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog patches along parts of the coastal areas of Arabian sea”, a source at the Center said. The source further added that along coastal areas of Oman Sea wind will be southwesterly light to moderate at night becoming northeasterly light to moderate during day, and it will be southwesterly light to moderate along coastal area of Arabian sea, while it will be southerly to southeasterly light to moderate over rest of the sultanate.

State of the sea will be moderate along Arabian Sea coasts with maximum wave height of 2.0 meters and slight along rest of the coast with maximum wave height of 1.25 meters. “Horizontal visibility will turn poor due to the present cloudy climate especially during fog, and thundershowers. Motorists need to exercise extra caution while driving through these areas”, the source said.
