Three-day holiday in Dhofar

MUSCAT: On the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and due to the adverse weather conditions which affected Dhofar Governorate, an official holiday has been declared for all units of the state administrative apparatuses in Dhofar Governorate on May 27, 28 and 29. The decision issued by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, excludes workers who operate in the major sectors. Based on the Royal directives of His Majesty, the Ministry of Manpower has declared an official holiday for the private sector in Dhofar Governorate during May 27, 28 and 29.


The decision which was taken by Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, said the workers or employees who work during the holidays can be compensated subject to mutual consent with their employers. Meanwhile, on Royal directives, the Ministry of Education has decided to defer the General Education Diploma (GED) examinations (Grade 12) in all governorates of the Sultanate to June 3 as per schedules to be issued later. Grade 11 students in public and private schools from Dhofar Governorate will appear for the remaining exams of the second term starting from June 10 as per the pervious schedule.
