MUSCAT: The Oman Football Association (OFA) has finally put an end to speculation about the number of teams to be relegated and promoted by officially announcing late on Monday that three clubs will be relegated to the first division and three clubs will be promoted to the Omantel League from the new season. The top three teams in the first division earn a direct promotion to the main league, while the bottom three of the Omantel League will be directly relegated to the first division, according to the OFA decision. The OFA has also renamed the Omantel Professional League as Omantel League for the 2017-18 season. The Omantel League, in which the Sultanate’s top-tier 14 clubs will participate, will kick off on September 13.
