COMEX is the top ICT event in the Sultanate as a number of leading ICT companies from inside and outside the Sultanate take part in the event to display the latest ICT products of interest to consumers.

While opening the exhibition, the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers said, the exhibition provides an ideal opportunity for the public and private organisations to display their products and services. It is also an opportunity to showcase the e-government services which facilitate the processing of transactions for public services by citizens and expatriates as well.

As for the implementation of the e-government at the public units, he said that an executive status report on e-government is presented annually to the Council of Ministers.

He added that while commendable efforts are made, still some public organisations seek to improve their services. 14 public organisations are taking part in the exhibition to introduce their e-services to the public and launch new services as well. About 100 specialised IT companies from the different parts of the world are also taking part in the exhibition.

COMEX provides a platform for meeting with local and regional companies and exchange ideas and solutions with their peers and with customers as well. The e-government pavilion provides the opportunities for companies and individuals to meet with representatives of the public organisations to exchange views and feedbacks. On the sidelines of the exhibition, ITA launched the future technology pavilion which enables ICT companies to display the pilot version for their products and digital solutions.

ICT companies from Singapore, Lithuania, India, UAE, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan are taking part in the exhibition this year. Comex also provides shoppers with the opportunity to buy the latest products that help them transform to a digital life. ‘The Child Pavilion’ also provides demonstrations for the activities, electronic games and many novel programmes.

On the sidelines of the event, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a contract with Oman Data Park to integrate the OCCI e-portal services with their devises.

This will help in providing user-friendly services. Oman Data Park Company also signed a contract with Haya Water Company to provide the latter with wide-range and cost effective solutions and full support to meet Haya’s future needs of technology.
