MUSCAT: The Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman has come up with the novel initiative of providing tele-tutoring facilities for the students who are appearing for the Board Examinations. Experienced and competent teachers in different subjects have been identified to clear the doubts of students until the examinations are over.
“This initiative by the board aims to provide our students with an additional academic support that extends beyond the classroom. In conjunction with other avenues of support such as ISOVLE tele-tutoring strives to not just offer academic assistance but also to alleviate the studies-related anxiety in children, says Dr Baby Sam Saamuel, board chairman.
The facility of tele-tutoring is in addition to the ISOVLE (Indian Schools Oman Virtual Learning Environment) portal which contains a large number of videos of lessons and learning materials that can be used by the students of Class X and XII.
Every effort has been made by the board to ensure that students are prepared well for their board exams and equal opportunities are provided to the students of all Indian Schools irrespective of their locations.
In this regard, the Class X and XII subjects that require more assistance by the teachers have been considered; these subjects include mathematics, physics, chemistry, accountancy and economics. Teachers in each of these subjects will be available online and students can have access to them on WhatsApp with their queries.
Students can also call them personally between 6pm and 9pm. The dedicated numbers for each of the subjects will be made available to the students by their respective schools.
