MUSCAT: Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Rowas, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs, said the international symposium on Al Muhallab Ibn Abi Sufra Al Azdi aims at preserving Oman’s history. ‘The symposium was held to stop aggression on our forefathers and the history of great men who did service to our country,’ Al Rowas affirmed in statement to reporters after opening the symposium. ‘While history is not the property of anyone, still great men in history should be connected to their countries and loyalties,’ Al Rowas added. ‘I hope such symposiums will be a good way to extend bridges of communication with others to be part of this kind land. They left Oman and missed the way for 40 years. If they come again to be Omanis, they are welcomed. We have to give everyone his rights,” he added.

Al Rowas said ‘aggression on the dead is not a noble characteristic. We are here today to support this right and to raise awareness of the long history from Malik bin Fahm all the way through to Queen Shamsaa and till the rule of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the architect of modern Omani Renaissance. We pray to the Almighty to grant His Majesty the Sultan good health, well-being and long life to remain always a role model for us and a leader in promoting welfare, security and peace. — ONA
