Swimming has become part of the current generation’s life due to the attention accorded to the sport in the schools and clubs which comprise a great number of swimming talents who find their way directly to the national teams.

The chief guest cut the ribbon announcing the official opening of the schools. Sulaiman bin Saif al Habsi, a member of the school’s board of directors delivered a speech in which he welcomed His Highness Sayyid Shihab.

He said that His Majesty Sultan Qaboos underscores the importance of paying attention to the youth and improving their skills so that they can play their national roles.

“We were keen on applying international standards in the school in terms of quality and safety. We also recruited international coaches from South Africa, Netherlands, US, Tunisia and Algeria to contribute to the school development,” Al Habsi concluded.

The attendees viewed a visual display about the school and its facilities. Then, His Highness Sayyid Shihab presented a memorial gift to the chairman of Oman Swimming Association. The chief guest then took a tour around the facility accompanied by His Highness Sayyid Shihab.

His Highness Sayyid Shihab said expressed his happiness over the inauguration of the swim school at the Seeb Club.

He congratulated the administration of Muscat Swim School for implementing such an ambitious project which will be a great success in the whole of the Sultanate.

“This is a big activity which will be added to other activities being practiced at the Seeb Club despite the fact that the school is run by the private sector but we consider ourselves to be partners in this activity. A large number of swimmers will be trained and qualified at the school from which they can join the national swimming teams and take part in international championships. I reiterate my congratulations to those in charge of the school and the Seeb Club administration for this achievement and we hope that the club will see other achievements in the future.”
