Muscat – Days of cheaper fares experienced by air travelers in Oman, including on the domestic sector, over the past few years will be over soon, said the top official of the country’s first budget airline.

Khalid al Yahmadi, chairman, SalamAir, said, “Increase in the price of oil will have a direct and significant impact on airlines this year. Airlines will be left with no choice but to raise the fares at a limited percentage this year.”

He added, “Aviation fuel represents a large proportion of the operating costs of airlines.

For the next week, one-way fares from Salalah to Muscat on SalamAir are in the range of RO24 to RO32 While on Oman Air fares are between RO31 and R041.
