NIZWA, Sept 17 - The Sports and Youth 2018 summer programme has concluded at the sports complex of Nizwa. The Department of Sports Affairs in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate had organised the closing ceremony. Programmes were held as part of the Ministry of Sports Affairs’ plan to promote cultural and scientific activities in sport complexes and clubs. Held from June to August, it saw wide participation from six clubs: Nizwa, Bahla, Samayil, Fanja, Al Bashaer and Al Hamra, besides the sports teams in Izki. Activities were also held in various wilayats.
The programmes benefited thousands of people of both sexes. On the summer sports side, training centres, open days and sports convoys were established. In the youth field, workshops, lectures and educational trips were held in addition to poetry and chess competitions. The closing ceremony was attended by Shaikh Rashid bin Said al Kalbani, Wali of Nizwa. Ahmed bin Mohammed al Harrasi, Director of Sports Affairs Department, and representatives of clubs were also present. Clubs showcased several activities at the closing ceremony.
