Sultanate to mark World Intellectual Property Day

MUSCAT: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, will mark along with other countries, the World Intellectual Property Day, which falls on April 26 every year. This year, it is celebrated under the theme “Innovation: Improving Lives”. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) explained in its message that it will view through this theme how the intellectual property system supports innovation by attracting investments and rewarding innovators, as well as encouraging them to develop their ideas and ensure that others access them free of charge. On this occasion, the Research Council will organise a workshop on “Intellectual Property Education and Training,” in cooperation with a number of relevant government agencies and institutions and the WIPO at the Ministry of Tourism building on April 26 and 27. — ONA
