Sultanate junior TT tourney to kick off today

More than 40 players will take part in the Sultanate table tennis tournament for hopes and juniors (singles) to be organised by the Oman Table Tennis Committee (OTTC) at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex indoor courts on Friday.
The OTTC has completed all the logistics and technical preparations for the tournament. The organising committee held a draw ceremony on Wednesday at Muscat Table Tennis Academy in Seeb. The players were distributed into different groups. Players taking the top two places will qualify for the knockout stages.
The three-day singles tournament will have competitions in three categories — hopes (U-12), cadet (U-15) and Junior (U-18). The competitions will be held in two sessions. First session will be in the morning from 10 am to 1pm, while second session from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Meanwhile, the referee’s committee of OTTC has decided the umpires to officiate the tournament. The list of umpires comprised Khalid al Zaabi, Hisham al Sibani, Sulieman al Hatmi, Fahad al Farsi, Ahmed al Abrawi, Ayman al Ghadami. Hisham al Salmi will be the general referee and Mohammed al Jassasi, the tournament manager.
