Sultanate hails role of Islamic Chamber of Commerce

MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, received on Wednesday heads of the delegations taking part in the 33rd Islamic Chambers General Assembly meeting and the 25th meeting of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) Board of Directors, which were hosted by the Sultanate in the presence of Shaikh Saleh Abdullah Kamil, Chairman of ICCIA. HH Sayyid Fahd reviewed the Sultanate’s experience in supporting the private sector and providing it with all support for its development and promoting its activities to be an effective player with the government in the comprehensive development process in the Sultanate.


HH Sayyid Fahd also expressed appreciation of the Sultanate, under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to the important role played by ICCI as an organisation which promotes cooperation among its 57 members in commerce, insurance, re-insurance, navigation and banking sectors, as well as in industrial and agricultural projects, human resources development, promotion for investment opportunities, increasing inter-trade and enhancing competitiveness capabilities in the world market.


The meeting touched on the importance of collaboration of all efforts to activate the joint cooperation among Islamic and commercial chambers, encouraging the private sector to expand commercial and investment relations, benefiting from the training programmes on the available business opportunities to continue the economic development fields, and developing entrepreneurship, especially among youths and women and the support for SMEs. On their part, the heads of the delegations expressed appreciation for the Sultanate for hosting the two meetings and for the good preparations which will contribute to many positive results.


They also raised appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty the Sultan and hailed the multiple achievements made in the Sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty. The meeting was attended by Said bin Saleh al Kiyumi, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. — ONA
