MUSCAT, Nov 14 -

Yahya bin Said al Jabri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD), on Tuesday held talks with Demetris Syllouris, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, currently visiting the Sultanate.

The meeting reviewed the economic relations between the Sultanate and the Republic of Cyprus, and their efforts to encourage businesspeople to form economic partnerships that contribute to enhancing trade exchange.

The meeting also touched on the promotion campaign organised by the SEZAD in the Republic of Cyprus last May, which helped inform the Cypriot business community about the investment climate in the Sultanate in general, the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZD) in particular, and the economic projects in the Sultanate.

Al Jabri affirmed the keenness of the Sultanate to attract various investments. He pointed out that SEZD offers many incentives and facilities for investors, such as tax exemptions, land usufruct for periods of up to 50 years, and provision of many services to investors through the one-stop shop to mention only a few.

The Cypriot Speaker expressed his appreciation for the Sultanate’s efforts to promote development in various fields expressing the hope that the mutual visits between the two sides will enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

VISITS SAF MUSEUM: Meanwhile, Demetris and his accompanying delegation visited the SAF Museum.

Head of the SAF Military Protocols and Public Relations received the guest and his accompanying delegation and escorted them in a tour to various sections of the museum.

The guest and his accompanying delegation viewed the historic manuscripts and models, as well as the Omani architecture in the Bait Al Falaj Castle. They were also briefed on the progress enjoyed by SAF during the prosperous reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

At the end of the visit, the guest signed the visitor’s book, expressing his delight to visit the SAF Museum and view the beauty of the historic architecture, rich civilisational heritage in the Sultanate and aspects of progress and prosperity it enjoys today.

Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), also met with Demetris Syllouris and his accompanying delegation at the university headquarters. The meeting reviewed aspects of cooperation between the two sides.
