MUSCAT: The Sultanate strongly condemned the assassination of the Russian Ambassador in the friendly Republic of Turkey and considered it an act against rules of international laws, norms and human ethics, according to the statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. The Sultanate stressed the importance of full compliance with international rules for the protection of diplomats and international representatives, as stated in Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations 1961. At the same time, the Sultanate expressed utmost condolences and sympathy to the family of the Russian ambassador, the friendly Russian Federation, its government and the friendly Russian people. Meanwhile, Russia dispatched a team of investigators to probe the killing of the ambassador in Ankara, where officials have announced plans to name a street after the murdered diplomat.
