Sultan Qaboos Awards for Culture, Arts and Literature awarded

Assigned by His Majesty, Dr Rawya bint Saud al Busaidiyah, Minister of Higher Education, presided over the award ceremony of the sixth edition of the Sultan Qaboos Awards for Culture, Arts and Literature at the Al Wahat Club in Al Athaiba, yesterday. The six edition of the prestigious award was dedicated to Arab nationals. Egyptian writer and economist Jalal Amin bagged the prize for economic study while the cultural prize (literary criticism) went to Saudi critic Abdulrahman al Baz’ei. The judging panel withheld the prize for architectural designing (arts). Each of the winners received the order of merit for culture, art and literature and RO 100,000. The award ceremony was attended by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and chairman of the board of trustees of the Sultan Qaboos Awards for Culture, Arts and Literature who congratulated the winners calling for more efforts to enrich the cultural and intellectual landscape. Al Busaidiyah announced that the next edition of the award will be for Omani nationals.
