Suhar lift under-18 league crown

MUSCAT, April 30 – Suhar lifted the Oman Football Association (OFA) U-18 league title beating Al Suwaiq 5-4 in a penalty shootout on Sunday. The North Al Batinah team emerged victorious after the game ended without either team scoring in regulation time at the Suhar Youth Complex late on Sunday. The Al Musannah team came third after they defeated Al Salam 2-0 in the third place match. Asad al Noufli, Suhar goalkeeper saved the second shot from Al Suwaiq. This victory for came as a consolation victory for Suhar after their senior team lost the HM Cup final against Al Nasr. Mahmood al Balushi, Al Baraa al Maawali and Harith al Hinai netted for Al Miragh team, while Khalid al Balushi scored for Al Etihad team in the summit clash.

Saif al Ghafri, Oman Football Association member, was the chief guest for the final in presence of Humaid al Jabri, member and head of U-18 national team. Chief guest Al Ghafri gave away the gold medals and shield to Suhar players while Al Suwaiq players bagged the silver medals and Al Salam players got bronze medals. “Congratulations to all players, technical and administrative team for their effort and contribution to achieve this title,” Hamdan al Shizawi, chairman of Suhar club said “The league shield came after some very tough matches. Players did well throughout the season. Suhar and Al Suwaiq teams are the best and they reached to the final after their high technical performance,” chairman of Suhar club added.

“Suhar football team reached the final of HM cup. The Volleyball team was also very close to clinching the title of Omantel Volleyball League and they finished in both tournaments as runner up,” Humaid al Moqbali, vice-chairman of Suhar club said. “Finally we achieved the first title in the season by U-18 team in football league. Looking forward to the Suhar team in U-23 league and Suhar volleyball team to clinch the shields in these remaining tournaments,” Al Moqbali added.
