ASYAD, the most comprehensive end-to-end logistics provider in the Middle East, and the Smart City Platform — a strategic programme in The Research Council — announced the launch of Suhar Hackathon, a three-day competition where teams are invited to participate and find innovative solutions for challenges in logistics, environment and tourism in Suhar.
The event, which will take place during January 10 to 12, 2019 at the International Maritime College Oman in Suhar, is expected to host 100 local and regional participates forming teams from different backgrounds; programmers, entrepreneurs, marketers and problem solvers, all of which will be supported by 20 mentors throughout the competition.
“The event will gather teams of designers, developers, data analysts, entrepreneurs and innovators to promote a diverse approach to developing ideas. With increasing digitalisation of everyday life, collaboration across different fields is important for successful future innovation. Suhar Hackathon is the perfect platform to introduce this concept,” said Asila al Zidi, Director of Admin and Finance, the Smart City Platform.
Participants will compete to offer solutions for Suhar in three sectors; Logistics, Environment and Tourism. “Suhar Hackathon will create a platform for Omanis to engage with the business community in Suhar. We want every participant to realise the impact of his and her idea; their solutions can contribute to building smarter, more efficient and more productive business sectors, thus, playing a role in the Sultanate’s economic diversification plan for a sustainable future for Oman,” said Ibrahim al Bakri, Director General of Human Capital at Asyad.
