By Badriya Al Balushi — RUSTAQ: May 6 - A workshop on CV writing and preparation for a job interview was organised by Rustaq College of Education representative in the Training and Career Guidance Students Centre in cooperation with Oman Sailing Corporation. Titled ‘Writing Personal Curriculum Vitae and Job Interview Skills’, it was held at Rustaq College recently. A number of graduate students from Rustaq College participated. It focused on curriculum vitae and how to write it, besides the letter accompanying the CV. Participants were told the job-seekers should mail their CV and a letter summarising their key skills and qualifications to the employer.
The cover letter should have contact details about the job-seeker to enable the prospective employer to revert to them. Participants were taught how to write a CV, besides different types of CV. They were asked to explain briefly their academic qualifications, experience, skills and rewards in the CV. A CV should contain only “true information” and should not exceed two pages for fresh graduates. The workshop also focused on preparing for a job interview. “Good communications skills are essential when facing an interview,” they were told.
