Muscat: Muscat Municipality has warned stores and restaurants against trading of expired, prohibited, or adulterated food or food unfit for human consumption.
It added penalties include a fine of RO 1,000, disposal of the food stuff and closure of the shop for three days.
In case of food poisoning, municipality said penalties to be imposed on trading outlets will include a fine of RO 2000, closure of shop for ten.
If the offense is repeated within the license validity period, the penalty will be doubled and license will be granted only after six months from the date of cancellation.
