Stone laid for Qurayat integrated tourism project

Quriyat Development Company on Monday celebrated the laying of foundation stone of its integrated tourism project in the Wilayat of Quriyat, which cost RO 385 million and to be implemented in three stages. The ceremony was sponsored by Ahmed bin Nasser al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, who stressed the importance of the project in completing the ministry’s efforts in developing the tourism sector by establishing a range of tourism projects. He added that the project comes within the framework of implementing the Omani strategy for tourism, which aims to achieve the optimal employment of tourist elements that the Sultanate is rich in the natural, heritage, cultural and other.


Minister of Tourism said in a statement to reporters that Quriyat integrated tourism project will reflect positively on the economic and social, especially on the people of the wilaya who will benefit directly from the project, which will include many tourist facilities, such as hotels and others, praising the vital role of the private sector in support of official directions to develop the tourism infrastructure of the country, serving in turn the tourism promotion efforts carried out by the Ministry in the target markets.


The main components of the project are divided into three main aspects: tourist, residential and recreational.

The tourist facilities include the establishment of 3 hotels of 3, 4 and 5 stars respectively, with a total of 750 rooms, as well as a 9-hole golf course.


The residential area includes the construction of more than 3000 residential units with freehold space for citizens and foreigners.


The recreational side includes a water park and a Boulevard walkway, which includes an entertainment center with a range of restaurants and cafes, as well as a number of cinemas and an integrated health club.


The project also includes the enhancement of the benefit of the fishing harbour and the development of a floating berth for the reception of shipping vessels, which will facilitate the movement of visitors and tourists alike between Muscat and all tourist ports. The project will be developed in three stages, five years for each stage. The first stage includes the infrastructure of the project, with 400 housing units on 7,000,000 square meters, as well as a 4-star hotel with 250 rooms and suites covering more than 53,000 meters, in addition to a residential and commercial quarter (Boulevard) over 53,000 square meter, along with a state-of-the-art water park and some recreational and commercial facilities with a total area of more than 38,000 square meters.


The second stage, the largest in the project, will include the construction of up to 1,200 housing units on a land area of 21,5000 square meters, beside a large mosque with an area of nearly 10,000 square meters, in addition to a new 3-star hotel with a total of 150 rooms, in addition to the expansion of the first 4-star hotel on the waterfront with the addition of 150 new rooms and suites.

This stage will also include the establishment of a nine-hole golf club and golf course on a total area of about a quarter million square meters, which will add value to this sport tourism product.


The third and final stage of the project will include 1364 residential units, including 36 villas on the waterfront of the project, the expansion of the tourism structure, the addition of 150 new rooms for the 3-star hotel and the establishment of a new 5-star hotel with 200 rooms and suites with stunning views of the waterfront and the marina and over 75,000 square meters.


Quriyat Development Company was established through a partnership between al Madina Real Estate Company and Space Gulf Company, where the company will develop the entire project on a plot of land allocated as a usufruct in the system of integrated tourist complexes.
