MUSCAT, DEC 22 - The Ministry of Health and Muscat Municipality will expand the investigation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito-affected areas to Qurum Park, Qurum Heights, Wattayah and Wadi Adei in the capital on Sunday. The ministry said that the investigation will cover possible places for mosquito breeding, which requires the entry of technical teams to homes and parks. The ministry appealed to citizens and residents to cooperate with the investigation teams to facilitate their tasks for the public good. Meanwhile, the National Commission on Integrated Vector Management held a special meeting at the Ministry of Health on Saturday to discuss the measures for eradication of Aedes aegypti mosquito in Muscat.


The meeting, chaired by Dr Mohammed bin Saif al Hosani, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Health, discussed the latest developments such as the geographical spread of mosquitoes, investigation and eradication efforts exerted by the Ministry of Health and Muscat Municipality. The committee praised the joint coordinated efforts exerted by the Ministry of Health and Muscat Municipality to control the spread of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. The meeting came out with recommendations that focused on the need to address the reasons for the spread of mosquitoes. The committee, stressing the need to expedite the preparation of an operational plan, called on citizens and residents to cooperate with the investigation teams.
