State Council members impressed by National Museum of Oman

MUSCAT: State Council members and Secretariat staff on Monday visited the National Museum of Oman, in order to view and experience its highlights. Museum officials accompanied the delegation during the museum tour, which included viewing five halls, which displayed many aspects of life in Oman spanning over several varied historical phases. The museum is an important project responsible for preserving the Omani heritage and material and non-material collectables of all manifestations of the history, culture and arts of the Sultanate, in a form that highlights the cultural, historical and cultural dimensions of the Sultanate. The delegation were briefed about the latest additions to the museum’s archaeological collections. They learnt about the ambitious programme for the preservation and conservation of these pieces, which is the largest programme of conservation and preservation in the Middle East. The members praised the efforts exerted by the government in the field of preserving the popular national and cultural heritage.
