SQU student wins GCC award for history

MUSCAT: Nasser bin Saif al Sa’adi, PhD student at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), received “Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Naim Award” for serving the history and archaeology of the Arabian Peninsula particularly for his research entitled The Confiscation of Funds in Oman between the Political Situation and Economic Impact”. The award is presented by the Society for History and Archeology in the GCC countries in Riyadh. The study aims at shedding light on the motives and causes behind confiscation of funds, as well as revealing the impact of the political transition in issuing provisions of the acquisition of funds, and identifying the nature of the economic situation that accompanied the acquisition process and its impact on these provisions. The objectives of the award are to encourage scholars and researchers, activate writing on the history and archaeology of the Arabian Peninsula in various ages and contribute to the advancement of scientific research and the expansion of human knowledge of  history and heritage of the Arabian Peninsula. — ONA
