Spring- Summer 2018 fashion captivated Muscat runway

From botanical prints to colour block as well as a variety of fabric textures the evening brought in a variety of ideas and along with a glimpse into the upcoming trends for spring-summer fashion 2018. In the aesthetic ambiance of Muscat Bay, Swan International, Oman gave a glimpse into what is to be expected in the coming seasons, from some of Italy’s popular luxury brands.


Her Highness Sayyida Aliya bint Thuwaini Al Said, Chairperson of Swan International, expressed, “From the very beginning, we went against the odds to transform the local retail space and experience by making Oman a strong contender for international brands to enter and flourish. We have come a long way over the last five years and remain steadfast in our resolve to work in partnership with brands that share our aspirations and ones that cater to the burgeoning demand for quality fashion in the country.”


She added, “Today, our portfolio has grown to include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, footwear, home accessories, beauty and skincare. I can confidently say that we are now playing a key role in stimulating the retail industry in Oman and actively contributing to building a name for the country across international waters.”


The brands showcased at the fashion show epitomized the excellence of Italian artisanship, from design to manufacturing. H.E. Giorgio Visetti, Ambassador of Italy to Oman, said, “Fashion can help foster bilateral relations and we are delighted to see a growing presence of Italian fashion brands in Oman. Italy is a prime example of the importance of the fashion industry to the economy.


The words ‘Made in Italy’ are enough to guarantee sophisticated and high-quality products, highly coveted for their integrity, durability and design originality.”


The Italian brand LIU.JO, spread over 50 countries, introduced the guests to a collection of a versatile range of cocktail ensembles, contemporary outfit, the patented amazing fit and bottoms up denim collection, sport and beachwear.


A creative offshoot of the LIU.JO is LIU.JO UOMO – a brand that is dedicated to men’s fashion. The designs for men were for the fashion conscious. They were appealing and metro-chic – multifunctional wardrobe ranging from ready to wear apparel, formal and urban wear but striking was also the footwear.


MAX&Co. came with timeless masterpieces crafted with interesting materials and artisanship. According to them the vibrant clothing and accessories making “every day” extraordinary for stylish women everywhere. The word ‘everywhere’ is key because MAX&Co is present in all the five continents.


Trussardi, since 1911, showcased effortless elegance and innovation. With a century to look back, the designs brought in the cutting edge language of contemporary culture and style. The focus was on refined outfits and a style that is strong and subtle.


Pennyblack, founded in 1978, came in with collections that are made of adaptable and must-have pieces for modern women particular about urban style.


“Pennyblack is a women’s wear brand deeply rooted in the Italian fashion heritage and inspired by both the casual British lifestyle and quintessential European style.”


Attracting attention was Furla founded in Bologna in 1927, a global player today, “It is about creativity, quality and joyfulness with distinctive playful spirit and contemporary elegance as you can see it the shapes of the leather goods as well as the colours, sizes and patterns.


The brand is guided by the idea that “every woman deserves beauty and quality at a fair price.”


The exclusive showcase of Furla’s Spring-Summer 2018 bags transported guests to the culture and charm of Venice. Inspired by the Italian city’s architecture and palace decorations, the bags featured deep and vibrant colours in a striking range of designs.


Trussardi presented their Fall-Winter 2018 collection for men and women, drawing inspiration from tarot cards and focusing on artisan craftsmanship, including leather, which is an important part of the brand’s heritage.


Pennyblack’s nautically inspired Spring-Summer 2018 collection evoked maritime charm with touches of red and blue and featured a summery rope and knot theme, printed all over on dresses and shirts. MAX&Co.’s Spring-Summer 2018 collection explored the concept of modern femininity through an eclectic collection.


Glamorous before everything else’ was the key concept behind Liu.Jo’s chic Gold Spring-Summer 2018 collection.


“I hope that this event galvanizes the fashion community in Oman to establish a credible, creative and respected platform that supports and nurtures Omani designer fashion businesses, strengthens the local manufacturing industry and attracts regional and international design houses and buyers,” HH Sayyida Aliya Al Said concluded. “Fashion Week is most certainly in sight, it’s just a matter of time.”


The first-of-its-kind fashion show was supported by the Zubair Corporation and Oman Arab Bank, with event space provided by Muscat Bay, beauty by Bassam Fattouh and transportation by Mwasalat. Swan International’s portfolio of fashion brands has their boutique located in Muscat’s Panorama Mall including the first ever Pennyblack and LIU.JO UOMO flagship stores in the GCC.
