Special Task Force unit opens in Mahdha

MUSCAT: Royal Oman police (ROP) on Monday celebrated the inauguration of police special task force (PSTF) unit and the graduation of a new batch of police recruits in the Wilayat of Mahdha in Al Buraimi Governorate. The event was presided over by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood al Busaidy, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the presence of Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsin al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, beside a number of senior officers of ROP, Sultan’s Armed Forces and the other security forces and citizens.

The graduates gave military salute to the chief guest upon his arrival at the parade ground to preside over the graduation ceremony. Then the ROP music band played the Royal Anthem followed by the parade leader asking for permission from the chief guest to start the graduation protocols. The graduates parade staged a military march passing in front of the dais. The chief guest then distributed prizes to high-achieving graduates. The graduates chanted the Royal Oman Police (protectors of right) anthem, thrice repeated the oath allegiance and loyalty and gave military salute to the chief guest before leaving the parade ground marking the end of the graduation ceremony.

Finally, the chief guest launched the curtain from the memorial plaque marking the official inauguration of the new unit. He then took a tour around the building viewing the facilities and equipment. The building of the special task force unit comprises of a security centre, a hall equipped with modern technological devices, meeting halls, administrative offices, a parade and training ground, a mosque, sports facilities, a swimming pool, a clinic, officers’ accommodation and lecture halls.
