Sohar University felicitates employees during staff week

SUHAR: The annual staff week began at Sohar University on September 10 and concludes today.
The week is organised annually at the beginning of each academic year. It includes a number of important activities and it is considered one of the main events of the University, as it provides training workshops, lectures and seminars for all administrative and academic staff.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof Barry Winn in his speech welcomed all employees and congratulated them on the launch of the new academic year.
He also mentioned the Development Programmes for employees will help in the continuation of the plan of development programmes for employees throughout the academic year.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor referred to the most important developments in the campus of the expansion and construction of the mosque.
He called on the staff to work together to face the various challenges faced by the university and stressed the importance of continuing and promoting the development process.
As part of its interest in its staff and in recognition of their efforts to serve Sohar University, the University honoured a number of its staff who received the VC’s Award for outstanding achievement for the year 2017-2018.
The winners were Dr Rakesh Belwal, faculty of Business, Khalid Mohammed al Shehi, Estates Department, Zalikha al Shizawi Faculty of Arts and Education and Laila Abdullah al Muqbali, Information Technology Services Department.
The first day programme also included an explanation of the University Strategic Plan 2018-2023, presented by Gweneth Gorman, Director of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness at the University.
