Sohar University celebrates graduation of 16th batch

SUHAR: Sohar University celebrated the graduation of the first group of the 16th batch of students under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health, in the presence of a number of excellencies and dignitaries of Suhar and officials of governmental and private institutions in North Batinah Governorate, as well as parents and members of the academic and administrative bodies of the university.


The ceremony was held at the open theatre on the university campus in Suhar and included students with a master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree and a diploma in teacher preparation programme from the six specialties and programmes of the university. The number of graduates reached 656 graduates, of which 70 were masters, 545 received bachelor’s degrees and Teacher Preparation Programme.


The University VC, Professor Barry Winn, delivered a speech on the occasion, welcoming the participants and thanking them for the invitation and participation.


“Universities are about students and staff. In your own way each and everyone of you has enriched this university during your time with us. I hope that you have enjoyed your time at Sohar University and I wish you every success for the future,” he said.


The Minister of Health honoured the first graduates who received the highest levels in the master’s and bachelor’s degrees. The sponsor then handed over the certificates to graduates.


Mahmoud bin Mohammed al Jarwani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sohar University, handed over a souvenir to the sponsor.
