Shababi programme gearing up to launch on June 4

MUSCAT, May 14 - The sixth edition of the Shababi programme which is run by the Ministry of Sports Affairs, is gearing up to launch its activities. The programme that will continue for 90 days will begin on June 4 and end on August 24. The organising committee completed its preparation and coordination with all youth complexes and clubs that will hold the different enterprises of Shababi programme. The main objective of the programme is encouraging the youth to pursue a series of cultural, social, scientific, environmental and the traditional aspects of Oman’s customs.


“The Shababi programme has come under the Omani Sports Strategy, which was approved by the Council of Ministers. The practicing of sports, taking part in youth, cultural and social activities and exploitation of leisure time among young people are the main missions of the programme,” Said al Rahbi, head of Shababi programme said. “The Ministry of Sports Affairs approved the list of activities to be implemented in all the youth complexes. It is going to cover all the youth interests and discover their talents and different technical skills. Also, they are assigned professional lecturers and trainers who are going to take part in some of listed activities,” Al Rahbi concluded.


“We set a full media package plan to cover the programme. We will have different events around the Sultanate. This required to highlight on the efforts taken by the members of youth committees through different channels of the media,” Balqees Mohammadi, member in the main committee of Shababi programme and head of the media team said.
