A reception was held on board Shabab Oman II to mark the Eid al Adha occasion with the participation of Dr Al Shaikh Ghazi bin Said al Rawas, Sultanate’s Ambassador to France, and Commodore Salim bin Nasser al Qasmi, Military Attaché at the Sultanate’s Embassy in France, and a number of French officials and captains of the participating ships. The ship was open to the public to view a collection of Omani culture and heritage displayed at an exhibition held on the deck of the ship.

The ship’s crew participated in a march staged by the crews of ships participating in the Tall Ships of Le Havre Festival showcasing a colourful display of Oman’s traditional heritage that mesmerized the French public who gathered on the roadsides.

In a ceremony held at the conclusion of the crews’ march, the RNOV Shabab Oman II was named the smartest ship in the Tall Ships of Le Havre Festival for her beautiful design and appearance. The award represents an addition to the many coveted prizes the ship had bagged during her international ‘peace and friendship sail’.
