MUSCAT: The Cultural Club organised a seminar on ‘The skies of vernacular poetry’, which dealt with a number of topics in the field of literary criticism and vernacular poetry.
The topics of discussion included the types of criticism in vernacular poetry and the importance of criticism in vernacular poetry, and poet-critic phenomenon in vernacular poetry. The discussion also focused on the relationship between vernacular poetry and literary criticism and the need for it, in addition to those literary phenomena that distinguish this type of poetry from others.
The session was attended by a group of poets and researchers, including poet Masoud al Hamdani, poet and researcher Ali al Harthy, poet and researcher Rashid al Shamsi.
The event at the cultural club marked the end of the current cultural season. The new season will be launched on December 26 with the release of the new programme for 2018. — ONA
