MUSCAT: A seminar on Endowment Organisations Governance was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Muscat on Monday under the auspices of Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al Salmy, Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs.
The two-day seminar, organised by the ministry, discusses managing and investing in endowment organisations and the development of endowments in the future.
It also sheds light on a number of important themes, such as governance and endowments organisations, the procedures for establishing endowment organisations, the corporate governance and compliance rules for endowments organisations, auditing and controlling endowments organisations and banks and the rules for banking services. The seminar was attended by representatives of Meethaq Bank, Deloitte and officials at the ministry.
The Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs has earlier developed a system to meet the needs of this vital development project. To this end, it signed a number of agreements with specialised local and international companies to make the charitable endowments organisations meet their aims.
The ministry launched the endowments organisations scheme last April in a bid to create real partnership in managing endowments and investing them under the supervision of the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs
