The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries will sign an agreement with Arab Company for Supplies and Contracting to establish a new fish market at the harbor in Seeb at an estimated cost of RO1.7 million. The project that will come up on a total area of 7,040 sqm will include 12 shops, an ice factory, 64 showrooms, 37 fish cutting tables, a seafood cafe and restaurant, beside facilities such as toilets, changing rooms for fishermen, prayer and management office. It has been reported that more than 16,000 sqm of land next to the fish market will be offered for tourism investment in the future. The new market will open up new direct and indirect job opportunities for citizens.
