SALALAH: In an effort to streamline the academic advising process, the Academic Affairs office of Salalah College of Technology (SCT) organised an academic staff assembly and Advising Workshop recently in the college’s multi-purpose hall.
In his opening remarks, College Dean Dr Hamdan al Manthari cited the importance of the different roles played by lecturers and encouraged them to share and discuss the challenges they faced in the process in order to help them perform their tasks more efficiently.
Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs Dr Said al Mashiki also highlighted in his remarks the importance of teamwork between the staff and management in achieving the college goals. Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Dr Amal al Shahri attended the assembly along with the heads of academic departments.
Abdulrahman Saleh al Zoubi, Head of Admissions and Registrations Department, made a presentation about the advising rules and processes. Representatives from the department registrars and probation consultants were also given time to discuss proposals and suggestions on how to improve the process. The assembly concluded with an open forum in which several staff members shared the challenges being faced by them in advising specially after the implementation of the new College Information Management System (CIMS).
