Salman Stores, MDC Enhance Eagles register victories

MUSCAT: Imran Asghar Ali’s sterling all-round effort helped Salman Stores to a stunning win against Glory Bower Strikers in a Khimji Ramdas-sponsored A Division thriller at the Ministry of Sports grassy ground 1 in Al Amerat on Saturday.


The two teams with strong bowling attack tested each others’ batting skills as bowlers won the day in a dramatic finish.


Batting first, Salman Stores was reeling at 50 for 4 and then 71 for 8 before being bundled out for a paltry 116 in the 33rd over. Imran Asghar was the only batsman who resisted the Strikers’ onslaught with a valiant 49 not out off 75 balls.


Anup Rajan led the bowling honours for Strikers, claiming four wickets while Muhammed Rizwan and Vineet Rana bagged two wickets each.


Defending a small total, Salman Stores launched the offensive, reducing the Strikers to 78 for 5 with Imran and Asim Kamal striking at regular intervals. Struggling at 98 for 8, Strikers found the going tough and folded up for a meagre 105 in the 30th over as off spinner Muhammed Azeem too the last 3 wickets for just 6 runs. Vineet Rana topscored with 17 off 19 balls. Imran and Asim also claimed three wickets each.


Brief scores: Salman Stores 116 all out in 32.2 overs (Imran Asghar Ali 49 not out – 5x4. Anup Rajan 4-33, Muhammed Rizwan 2-23, Vineet Rana 2-33) beat Glory Bower Strikers 105 all out in 29.2 overs (Vinnet Rana 17 – 2x4, 1x6. Muhammed Azeem 3-06, Asim Kamal 3-31, Imran Asghar Ali 3-42) by 11 runs.


Enhance Eagles


thrash OCT Muscat


MDC Enhance Eagles rode on excellent performances by Flourry George and Omkar Pramod Ozardek to trounce OCT Muscat by 67 runs in another A Division game at the same venue on Friday.


Invited to bat first, Eagles batted well to post 218 for 9 in 50 overs. Flourry topscored with a superb unbeaten 53 off 62 while Pranav Mehta crafted a stubborn 45 off 86. Parth Trivedi (33 off 57) and Jaison Manjila (31 off 32) also made vital contributions. Faraz Ismail al Balushi bagged three wickets while Zubair Akbar al Balushi and Nawed Abdul Majeed al Balushi claimed two each.


OCT Muscat was off to a good start but it slumped to 91 for 4 after being 81 for 1. The fifth wicket fell at 131 and then the flood gates opened as Omkar Pramod Ozardek claimed five wickets for just 15 runs in four overs, skittling out the all-Omani side for 151 in the 37th over.


Nadeem Mohammed al Balushi (37 off 33), Rafeeq Mohammed al Balushi (32 off 87) and Shuaib Ismail al Balushi (31 off 28) were the leading scorers. Flourry George took three wickets for 28.

Omkar Pramod Ozardek5-15, Flourry George 3-28) by 67 runs.
