SAF command provides briefing on joint Omani-British military drills

MUSCAT: As part of the preparations for “Al Shomoukh 2” military exercise by the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), the military and security apparatus, in cooperation with a number of civil public organisations and the joint Omani-British military exercise (Swift Sword-3) by the armed forces of the two friendly countries, the SAF command made a briefing on the two militaries exercises. The briefing covered stages of the military exercises and military aims as per the timeline programme for them.


The briefing, which was held at Al Shafaq Club of SAF, was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidy, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, Michael Fallon, UK Secretary of State for Defence, Mohammed bin Nasser al Rasbi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, SAF Chief of Staff, SAF commanders, the UK Ambassador to the Sultanate, the Military Attaché at the UK Embassy in Muscat and the delegation accompanying the British guest.


The planning team for the two military exercises made a briefing in the presence of the SAF Chief of Staff.


The briefing included the timeline plan to prepare for the two exercises scheduled to be carried out at the last quarter of 2018, as well as their training goals. The briefing was also attended by commanders of SAF forces, commanders of the military and security apparatus, under-secretaries, senior SAF, security and military apparatus officers, as well as invitees from other public organisations. — ONA
